Search engine is the only way for user to searching the desired information on the Internet. Search engine show the search result from its database depending upon the keyword you type in the search box. Every website has an aim to get to the top of every search engine. When a particular site is on top for any major or minor keyword, it is sure to get high or some quality traffic from there.
There are hundreds of search engines in the market, but 5 or 10 top search engines are used mostly. I have a list of top 5 mostly used search engines:
- Google search Engine -
Google facilitates the user to search the web, images, news, videos, blogs and many more. Google shows crawler- based result. It also provides facility of toolbar which include Page Rank, caching information of the webpage. It has the ability to provide Page Rank to your web pages.
- Yahoo search -
Yahoo provides a first large directory on the internet and uses its own search technology. You can search images, news, videos. It provides news, free email, chat rooms, personals, and hot jobs.
- MSN live search -
MSN (live.com) is a search engine as well as a content provider. It’s created by Microsoft in august 24, 1995. Its provide internet services with hotmail web services and MSN Messenger. Now it has been replaced with windows live. Hotmail has been replaced with windows live hotmail and MSN messenger service replaced with Windows live Messenger.
- AltaVista search -
AltaVista.com (Alta vista) provides search services as well as technology. It has advance search capabilities and features like multimedia search, language recognition, translation, images, audio and video search, etc.
- AOL search engine -
AOL search (search.aol.com) provides search result enhanced by Google. It provides web search, breaking news top headlines, free email services, software download and many more.

Your search engine list is good. but Google and yahoo is mostly used by the internet users.
IN my list altavista is also high ranked because of babel translation algorithms
